HISTORY...
I
first knew I wanted to be a DJ when I was watching ‘Top
Of The Pops’ on TV when I was 12 years old and it looked
so cool to me when the guy in the background was making
all these noises by playing with a record (which I now
know was scratching) ha ha.
After watching the program I told my Dad that I wanted
to do this on one of his records on his record player
and he told me if I did I’d be in trouble, so being the
rebellious child that I was I decided to do it while he
was out on his favourite Rod Stewart ‘Atlantic Crossing’
special collectors edition, bright orange, acetate
vinyl.
To be honest when I tried to repeat what
I’d seen on the T.V I just remember it making a weird
noise and nothing at all like it should have so I left
it alone and didn’t bother with it again admitting
defeat. It was only a few days later that I realised
that I had ruined my Dads best piece of vinyl when he
played it one night and it hopped, skipped and jumped
over all the tracks on the side I had experimented with
that day. (Ooops), my dad was not happy to say the
least, I was in a lot of trouble and my dreams of
becoming a DJ were over : (
That
was until I was 14 years old and being well into
motocross I used to practise all the time on the local
track near my house which meant having to drive the bike
down roads etc with no license to get there. I was on my
way home driving on the road when I was chased and
caught by the police in an unmarked car who said if I
didn’t sell my bike I would be disqualified from driving
before I even had a license, so I sold my beloved bike
and got my first set of DJ-ing equipment - Citronic belt
drive turntables, a Tandy Realistic 4 channel mixer, a
Realistic amplifier, a Phillips C.D player, a Pioneer
tape deck, 2 large Realistic speakers and a shed load of
hardcore records. Looking back I was totally ripped off
but I was happy that I had all that equipment and
therefore started to pursue my dream of becoming a
superstar DJ.
I
tried to teach myself how to mix but I didn’t have a
clue at all ha ha, I literally spent hours upon hours
just trying to beat match and I made mix tapes for
friends at school who laughed at my rubbish mixing as
they were all listening to happy hardcore tapes mixed by
big name DJ's who could scratch, & I couldn’t even
scratch my arse at the time!! LOL!!
This
sparred me on and I finally cracked it with a little
help from my good friend Carl Parker who was several
years older than me and playing at some big venues back
then and I really looked up to him as he had already
established himself as a top DJ in our area. That first
correct mix I did was like all my Birthdays and
Christmas’s rolled in one, I was so happy, Carl then
taught me about scratching and the whole structure of
music, because being a Producer as well as a DJ he
really influenced and inspired me ( cheers mate !!) I
then got the confidence to play regularly at our local
youth club, house parties and landed myself a residency
at a local bar (Arriba, Ormskirk - Lancashire).
I
then saved enough money for a set of Technics 1210’s and
a decent mixer, then that was me hooked on the whole
thing and I started promoting and DJ-ing some big nights
with Carl in Southport, gaining respect from a lot of
people, gaining valuable experience and most of all
proving all my previous critics and dis-believers wrong
by actually getting somewhere with my DJ-ing dream.
I
then wanted MORE and decided to try my hand abroad for a
summer season in Corfu (Greece) still at the young age
of 16. After that summer I got a real taste of the DJ-ing
lifestyle & I have never looked back since.
BIOGRAPHY...
Rossi is a 24 year old DJ & Promoter. He started mixing
at the tender age of 15!! Since this time he has already
moved & travelled around the world from his home in the
North-West of England, (A small village called Burscough),
to pursue his DJ-ing career.
Rossi is definitely a DJ that needs to be seen to be
believed. No CD or online mix can show even half of whom
he is when DJ-ing live. He has a huge persona on & off
the stage & is a pure entertainer behind the decks,
incorporating his own unique turntablism skills into an
epic set of perfect beat matching & excellent tune
selection no matter what genre of music he is playing at
the time.
So
far in his career he has held residencies for Cream,
Miss Moneypenny’s & Godskitchen, Hed Kandi & Pukka Up -
(to name just a few). With all of the residencies Rossi
has held over the years abroad and in the UK, he has
always had a great following of loyal clubbers that come
back time after time to see his flamboyant mixing styles
& extreme, explosive DJ sets .
He
has also appeared as the headlining guest DJ at many of
the most prestigious events, parties & venues worldwide,
thus proving he is a very capable, very talented & most
definitely a DJ to keep a very close eye on in the not
so distant future. Ever since he became a professional
DJ he has never disappointed the 1000’s of people who
have heard him play – instead he blows the roof off with
his magical sets that are guaranteed to leave the crowd
sweaty and literally begging for more!
He
is a very versatile DJ who can turn his hand to many
styles of music & strongly believes in being flexible,
describing 'His' style to be anything over 130 BPM, not
restricting himself to one specific genre of music,
instead keeping his options open & enjoying all the
different sets that he plays. The music he does play is
a diverse variety with sets consisting of *(Funky,
Electro & Dirty House), *(Hard Dance), *(all forms of
Trance) & *(The odd Retro set here and there) Depending
on where he’s booked to play.
His
technical ability is outstanding & having the ability to
get two tunes seamlessly in time in under 20 seconds
gives him the time he needs to scratch, setup & perform
tricks, use his fast individual cutting rhythms, use the
effects, and as if that wasn’t enough – he will even
bring a third & forth deck into the mix just to spice
things up!!
Rossi’s showmanship is showcased in every set he plays &
he enjoys nothing more than interacting with the crowd
and getting them involved by hyping them up with his
unbelievable amount of energy and enthusiasm.
All
Rossi’s sets are 99% improvised with only certain big
tricks being pre-planned or trained, making him one of
THE most exciting DJ's to be seen live on the circuit.
Since Rossi started listening to music at a very early
age, he has always been heavily into dance, but he has
eaten, breathed and lived on DJ-ing & promoting in the
dance scene since 15 and you can physically see the love
and passion he has for it while mixing.
To
him it’s not just a hobby or a job it’s a way of
life!!!!!

PRESENT...
"I believe
nowadays its not about being a big name DJ or having a
big name promotion - its about entertaining the crowd,
giving them value for money and that’s what I'm all
about, not just a DJ or Promoter but an Entertainer
too."
"I am now
back in the UK & I shall be based here for the
foreseeable future looking to further my DJ-ing career &
to promote my latest dance music event which is called
'Another Wild Night’ (www.anotherwildnight.com)... "
"It’s a
great concept that started in New Zealand with my
business partner and fellow DJ Steve Richards (www.djsteverichards.com).
Using the unique patterns from wild animal furs as the
basis for the flyers / posters & banners we have now
created a brand that has a touch of class above the
rest."
"Steve & I
met in Ayia Napa this year as we were both resident DJ's
for the castle club (www.thecastleclub.com) & ended up
becoming best of friends on and off the decks playing
back to back almost every night."
"After talks
we decided to launch 'Another Wild Night' (with proud
sponsorship from Pioneer Pro DJ) @ The Castle Club and
become business partners running the event every
Wednesday throughout the summer with huge success. Our
music policy is dependant on each individual venue but
we are currently running events playing a mixture of
Funky, Dirty & Electro house. Although if there is more
than one room at the venue for our event we do consider
stretching to some uplifting trance and hard dance as an
alternative to the house room. "
"Given how
successful the events have been in Ayia Napa and New
Zealand we feel that 'Another Wild Night' should be
experienced by all who enjoy going to proper events in
the UK and abroad with a little bit of extra class."
"If you are
interested in me playing for you as a guest, becoming a
resident or if you would be interested in us bringing
'Another Wild Night' to your venue please get in touch
either by phone... +44 7833 992 303 (UK Mobile) or +44
1704 893 483 (UK Office) my email address is dj_rossi@hotmail.com
"
Look forward
to meeting/doing business with you, Rossi.
