HOUSE - PROGRESSIVE HOUSE

All through my early years I was always drawn to music, when others were outside kicking a ball about, or each other, my head was in the earphones of my mums then stereo, listening to the likes of Lionel Richie, Prince, New order, to name a few.

It was passion, but strangely enough, I had no desire to follow it through then, never did I dream of being a pop star, it just never appealed to me!

It was not until later on when I turned 18, finding myself behind the bar one night of a local wine bar, the very first night the owner asked me if I would like to work his nightclub also. This albeit a fleeting moment, and a decision I was to make, was to be point at which my life would change direction, in that, where I was to find my one love!

I worked the club in various positions, always finding myself looking to the Dj in his box, hammering out the tunes that had people letting go, whipping them up into a frenzy. Slowly but surely I fell in love and one thing led to another, and it was not long before the Dj had to some extent taken me under his wing, and allowed me to use his records/equipment and showed me the basics of beat matching.

Then came a time a year or two after I found myself starting to work the clubs in a Dj capacity playing mainstream chart, my passion was dance music back then, but at the time the scene was very much in its embryonic stages, especially in the town I worked.

It was a few years later when I managed to persuade my then employee, during a club extension, to embrace dance music. We were not the first to try this, but ours was the first to succeed, in quite an explosive fashion.

As the years moved by my style progressed, back then, handbag, hard trance/trance, and more recently progressive, breaks and house.

I have travelled about working London, with Universe (Tribal Gathering), to the Monastery in Torquay, and more locally to me, Media in Nottingham, also performing live mixes on a local radio station.

But in the main I have held down residencies for years at a time in my local town, relishing the time, but eventually as my music tastes changed, it no longer suited the town’s tastes, so I moved on.

Having learnt my apprenticeship if you like, in the main reading the crowd and how to move them, it was time to find myself again, and follow my musical tastes more so, but still accommodating the crowd as always.

I have no major influences as in Dj’s, I have learnt from all of them I have listened to, ‘good’ or ‘bad’, and still do.

My approach to a night can be one of building the energy, or sustaining throughout, changing moods as I go, a journey - from deep melodic moments, funky grooves, through to high octane moments filled with killer beats, passion and energy.

My demo is available on line, CD also available, please email me for details, or for booking enquiries.
